What Even stores about you, why, who else can see it, and how to get rid of it. This is a description of what the database holds, not a template.

01

What Even Stores

Your account. An email address, a username, whether you are here to hire or to work or both, and a hashed password. The password is stored as a bcrypt hash, so nobody at Even can read it, including Even.

Your profile. If you do the work: the categories you have opted into, your portfolio items, and whether your account is accepting briefs. If you are hiring: your business name.

Your activity. The briefs you post or are invited to, the attempts you submit, the files attached to them, review decisions and the written reasons attached to them, messages you post in a critique room, and a ledger of payments in and out.

Even does not store card numbers. Payments are handled by Stripe, and Even keeps only the identifiers Stripe gives back so a payment can be reconciled.

02

Why It Is Stored

To run the thing you signed up for: matching briefs to people, showing a business the attempts made for its brief, working out who is owed what, and paying them. There is no advertising on Even, and your data is not used to build an advertising profile.

03

Who Can See It

Your username and portfolio are visible to businesses whose briefs you are shortlisted for. An attempt you submit is visible to the business that posted that brief. After a brief is decided, the commissioned attempt is visible to the other creatives who submitted to that brief and left the feedback setting on, along with anything posted in the critique room.

Nothing else is shared between users. Files are held in private storage and served through short-lived signed links, so a file cannot be reached by guessing a URL.

04

Who Else Processes It

Four services, each doing one job: Neon stores the database, Vercel runs the site and stores uploaded files, and Stripe handles payments. Resend sends the email Even sends you. Each of them sees only what it needs to do that job.

05

How Long It Is Kept

Account and profile data is kept while your account exists. Records of briefs, attempts and payments are kept after that, because they are the record of money that changed hands between other people and Even cannot honestly delete one side of a transaction.

06

Deleting Your Account

Email no-reply@jaydigital.us and your account, profile, portfolio and uploaded files will be deleted. Ledger rows for payments that already happened are kept, with your name detached from them.

07

Cookies

even sets a session cookie so you stay signed in, and a short-lived cookie holding the signed captcha challenge on public forms. Both are necessary for the site to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no consent banner to dismiss.
